Reader Reviews This is a sensational bargain of a CD - 10 great tracks featuring 9 of the biggest hits of the most sensational duet in country music history plus a stunning cover of the 60's classic "Dark End of the Street" perhaps best known for it's soul music hit but actually a country song from Nashville (and it was also a hit for Archie Campbell and Lorene Mann). When Porter and Dolly get to singing harmony, can't nobody touch 'em! The other tracks are blockbuster top ten records for the duo from 1967-1980 (and there were several more beyond these nine during this period!), my favorites are their lively first hit "Last Thing on My Mind" and 1980's stunning "Making Plans" (actually a cut the duo had originally recorded as an album track a decade before it's single release!). Who can forget the haunting harmony of "Just Someone I Used to Know", the joyous "Please Don't Stop Loving Me" and the quinessential Porter-Dolly comic "fight" song "Better Move it On Home". This CD is a huge bargain for the money. I do wonder why though the cover photo is two vintage separate shots of Porter and Dolly meshed together when they posed for scores of photos together for nearly a decade (the Dolly picture in fact was used on the cover of her 1972 album of songs written by Porter), but that hardly worth pondering given the fantastic song collection you have here for a very low price. I would love to see all the old P & D duet albums come out on vinyl eventually and not just hits repackages but one can hardly complain about this gem.
