Melodica champion Augustus Pablo cuts some super versions of some very familiar ryhthms, sprinkling in lovely live piano, organ and xylophone, and of course, the ubiquitous, haunting East-meets-West winds of the melodica. Pablo played at just about all of the major Kingston recording houses of the 1970's, including (of course) King Tubby's, and Scratch's Black Ark, and this collection amply highlights the magic touch he brought with him. Killers include the spine-tingling Pablo Satta and lilting Golden Seal, but all of the material on offer is of the superior quality which one would expect of a roots legend like Augustus Pablo. Tantalisingly brief (hence four stars, instead of five), but a very tasty morsel indeed.
