Double Fantasy
Reader Reviews I wish John dint make albums with Yoko. When he first left The Beatles he couldnt stand when Yoko would try to sing at his concerts or on his albums, and he never let her. I this record they are like a duo. Everyother song is Johns and Everyother is Yokos. Had this been only a John Lennon album minus the Yoko I would have given this a five star rating, but Yoko's music is really really bad. She writes beautiful, and her poems are great. But they are poems not songs and she cant sing so that makes it even worse but John loved her enough to let her tone down his record so more power to him. This was Johns last album, in fact he finished recording it the day he was shot and killed. This became his biggest selling solo album ever, and for good reason the singles became huge hits and classics. 'Just Like Starting Over' is one of his all time best pop songs. 'Beautiful Boy' is a really touching song about his song Sean, which is think is sad because he never wrote a song for his son Julian. 'Watching The Wheels' is classic John Lennon and became a massive hit for him. 'Dear Yoko' was a hit. 'Woman' is one of Johns all time best songs and concidered his best by many. Every song John released as a single became a really big hit for him. Unlike John, yokos album had no hit singles and most fans (even hers) find her songs on this album to be anoying. Her voice is scrachy and shoty. The music sounds the same on all her songs, and only one of them contains any guitar. I wish John would have made a solo album, called it something other then "Double Fantasy" and insted of using Yoko he would have used 'Im Coming Out' and the rest of the out takes that became the Milk And Honey album, because those outtakes are far better then the atrocious work Yoko Ono placed on this album! So yes I would say this is a classic album, it was a turning point in pop music as is most anything John Lennon ever did, it was they end of and era and the start of a new one. Music in general, in any genra hasnt been as good since this album was released and John Lennon was killed. Highly Recomended! R.I.P. John!
