Paul Oakenfold made his name by bringing together some of the best trance sets together with his skills as a DJ. Now he brought something comepletly different and wonderous, with this album called, Bunkka. The first track; Ready, Set, Go! is an intense trance track with throbbing beat and great synths. Track 2, Southern Sun is a melllow pop track with a female vocalist that has a sweet voice. Track 3, Time Of Your Life is alternative sounding progressive style with a male vocalist who sounds soft and mellodic. Track 4, Hypnotised is a another alternative sounding tune with a female vocalists, complimented with a nice beat set and hypnotic quality to the overall sound of this one. Another hypnotic piece in Track 5, Zoo York with a strong baseline and ambient sounds intermixed with winding synths. Track 6, Nixon's Spirit, is ambient with a mix mash of sound bites of political speeches; the weekest and oddest track in this album. Track 7, another strong female vocalist song with a sweet voice and hypnotic beat, really good. Track 8, Starry Eyed Surprise, is very popish and you've probably have heard it in television commercials, it's nice and upbeat. Track 9, Get Em Up, a cool rap song with surprise artist Ice Cube. Track 10, Motion, is a nice mellow alternative type song with a another male vocalist, his voice echoes from a distance, sounds good.The last track, The Harder They Come, weakest of all the tracks because of the annoying lead female singer with the high pitched voice, but the melody is mellow and hypnotic. Overall Bunkka is a sensational album containing a mix of genre styles from trance, breakbeats and alternative mixes. Hardcore fans of Oakenfold's trance might not like this if they expect all trance. You will enjoy this album if you want new, fresh and mixed music styles. The hypnotic quality which is a re-occurring mood set examplified by many of the tracks with excellent male and female vocalist and great synths sounds by this great album. When people ask if I know of any good music, Bunkka always comes to mind first!
