Reader Reviews As with Ozzmosis, the first thing you will notice is the lack of involvement on Zakk Wylde's part in writing this album. It's like Zakk is being flown in from playing with Black Label Society concerts, handed a roll of sheet music, and sat down to be recorded. He feels detatched from the whole project while everyone swarms around Ozzy to tell him what a genius he is. Well...you're only as good as the people around you, and having a bunch of record executive pukes and song doctors acting like they have their fingers on the pulse of the music world while blowing kisses in your ear, well, you get what you deserve. Down To Earth sounds like Ozzy filtered through a corporate sieve. The madman packaged on a lunchbox like one of those dinosaurs from Jurassic Park. If you need to cleanse yourself, slip on Blizzard or Diary. Set yourself free. This is why I figure Zakk keeps himself at a distance. He doesn't want the corporate music industry taint on himself. Ozzy is done for, let's run. For those of you who think that Down To Earth is a sold effort by the Ozzman, well, you haven't been a fan since you were eleven years old (Going on 25 years). You haven't been through the ups and downs, the disasters and the divinations. You haven't experienced what a real Ozzy recording is all about. Sorry to tell you the truth, but the real Ozzy died with Randy Rhoads in that plane crash down in Leesburg, Florida in March of 1982. What we have had since is the ghost of Ozzy. And sometimes it's on and sometimes it's off. On Down To Earth it's not even on the planet. Dig It!
