Reader Reviews
For some reason, the Snivilisation album has sort of been ignored by many. Consequently, this song isn't familiar to many, which is a shame, as it's a great take by Orbital on "jungle" (remember how every little strain of electronic music had to be given a name back in the 90's?). Asian sounding synths, great beats, great vocals. Luckily, the single holds up. The Who Are They? mix is like a different version of the last half of the album mix, with some new bits and pieces added in. The Do They Here? mix is very menacing-sounding, with the drums being all chopped up. I didn't care much for the They Did It mix (and since it's wasn't done by Orbital, that's ok). The big surprise is the What Was That? mix, which is like a very relaxes and happy version, without most of the beats. The Criminal Justice Bill is a reference to a law that they tried to pass in England during the early 90's that tried to outlaw repetitive music and gatherings of more than 10 people with loud music without a permit (it was aimed mostly at raves, as many people didn't understand what went on, and assumed it was all drug-taking and freaking out). As a result, a Criminal Justice techno song would be short and quiet, and so the Crminal Justice Bill mix is 4 minutes of slience. The Industry Standard Version is a radio edit, but I noticed some vocal lines that don't appear on any other versions. This is definitely a must for Orbital fans. But watch out for the US version which has mixes by Rabbit In The Moon, which sound horribly dated.
