I picked this up at an independant store in soho london quite cheaply, while I knew off OC from the D.I.T.C crew I had not heard much of his material. I had the album Jewelz which I enjoyed and had heard that Word...Life was a much better album so I bought it on impulse. I was pleasently surprised not to mention how familiar I was of it without realising. You see after listening to as much hip hop as I do you start to remember certain things like for instance most of the scratch samples you here on certain tracks (Premo's for example) are taken straight from here, it was very interesting to know the source of all the scratch verses, it in a funny way made me enjoy this album even more. OC has some great lyrics and has a nice raw feel yet he does not have a thug type of tone, the beats which were mainly produced by Buckwild also a member of D.I.T.C were suitably rugged for their time and provide a nice backdrop for OC. Overall this is a solid album from the early ninties and one of the top albums from the D.I.T.C, this won't appeal to everyone and to some extent it has dated a bit but it is still a quality release.
