It might be Lili's album in title but Bill Laswell has got his paw prints all over this one. If you like Golden Palominos, Lori Carson and Material and all that sort of thing then this is an album for you. At the bargain price it is one you should definately add to your collection of Laswell stuff. It is full of all those typical Laswell bass grooves and production style. There are moments when it gets a very poppy but that is offset by it being rather tasteful and having plenty of enchanting violin melodies and other interesting bits going on, so the pop tunes really work for me even though I am not really a fan of pop. The down side of the album is that Lili's voice is not as good as her violin playing and the front cover is a very unflattering new age shot of Lili. This is definately not a cd I would buy for the cover.(and I have done that many times!)
