By the end of the '80s Gene Pitney recorded a new version of his song "Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart" duetting with Marc Almond, it was a number 1 in UK, in some other European countries and a world wide smash hit. This fact discovered Gene's great voice to many people that didn't know him before. In 1994 I first bought a CD collecting his greatest hits, then I bought a 2 CD box compilation, and after that I started buying his complete albums in the format 2LPs on one CD, as this one, which display all his talent in songs he recorded during the 60's and 70's. He is one of the greatest Pop singers of the era with an excellent taste to choose his repertoire, which includes titles by great songwriters as Bacharach/David, Goffin/King, Randy Newman, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil among others. By this time I already have almost all his 60s and 70s recordings and I'm looking forward to the release of an announced album of new recordings in which Gene has the collaboration of his son Todd. On several occasions I've read about this CD, I've read that it is already recorded, but I never knew about its release date.
