Entertainment
Reader Reviews With REM, Fugazi, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pylon, TAD and Jane's Addiction ,to name a few, influenced greatly by Gang Of Four, especially by Entertainment! This album has to be one of the top 3 all-time greatest albums, along with Wire's Pink Flag and X-Ray Spex's Germfree Adolescents. Andy Gill's guitar hooks, razor sharp jagged riffs, plus Dave Allen's bass noodling are first class. Can you imagine, that after more than 25 years, the songs here still sound so freshly modern. Oh my, the opening song "Ether" tells you this album is not going to be a mainstream rock number with its quirky bass hooks, and blazing electric guitar riffs. Anthrax is the mother of all rock songs when you hear it. It's got temper and moods built into the initial noisy guitar feedback. Thereafter, every song zap off whatever preconceptions you have about late 70's dated rock sound. This album proves greatness endures the test of time and countless imitations and amputations.
