Number of Discs: 1
Label: Collector's Choice
Product Description:
We have to credit our customers for this one
when we put out Chris Connors "A Portrait of Chris" album and mistakenly stated that Maynard Ferguson played on it, we got a bunch of messages basically saying "Youre wrong, he doesnt, but you really should put out Chris and his Double Exposure album!" Well, we are your humble servants, especially when the album in question is such a gem, featuring the two giantsthen on two different labels!harkening back to their association in Stan Kentons band for a cookin set of mostly standards. Includes "Summertime," "I Only Have Eyes for You," "It Never Entered My Mind," "Two Ladies in De Shade of De Banana Tree," "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most," "The Lonesome Road," "All the Things You Are," "Black Coffee," "Happy New Year" and "Thats How It Went, All Right." The complete 1960 release, a Collectors Choice Music exclusive!
Reader Reviews This is a duo with the number one horn player of the twentieth century Maynard Ferguson and Big Band singer Chris Connor. Maynard's status is obviously much higher than Chris's although Chris is so beautiful in her own realm or domain that we tend to overlook the facts surrounding the legacy of Maynard. One must give this album 5 stars just because.... Maynard is becoming such a collectible based on his greatness. He's still touring at age 75!!!!!! Every trumpet player knows of his greatness. A five star or I should say 10 star performer the last 50+ years. Maynard rules the world on trumpet always and forever. This album is a must in every sense of the word. Bill Hocking
