I love this cd. First off, I must say, I love power pop, The Knack, Cheap Trick, the Shazam, The Deal, etc. etc. Granted, music is all about a listener's personal taste (you negative reviewers of this cd obviously have none, ha ha). But seriously, this may be one of the all-around best pop cds written. Ever. Period. I am not even a Jellyfish fan nor was I as impressed with Presents Author Unknown by Mr. Falkner. Chalk it up to maturity or just sheer GENIUS, but this album is the bee's knees. It just has everything...the lyrics are fascinating and intelligent and the production, wow, the production is complete with surprises and pace-changes that are always interesting and make you want to go back and hit "play" one more time. This is one of those cds you could get lost with on a desert island and it would just be okay (hmm, solar powered iPod maybe?). More details: Amazon.com's review - DEAD ON accurate, and it's really hard to add much else. Few artists or works to compare this cd to because the songs are fairly unique and quirky, in a Beck kinda way, while remaining always on the happier lighter and confident side of pop. I suppose references to Owsley and Cheap Trick are appropriate, but the songs on this cd are longer and stand by themselves as works of art unlike the typical 2min30sec power pop song by The Strokes or the Hives. There are sounds of The CARs, Beach Boys, heck, even ELO. The tunes here aren't glammy, but at times there is some Queen type bravado underlying, but more in spirit or swagger then actual production. But ahhhhh, the production.... every note and twist and turn of each song is for a grander purpose only a genius can ever understand. We simple fans must just try and try and, of course, appreciate.
