Reader Reviews Bad Wizard rocks and rocks hard! None of these other "retro rock revival" groups can even come close. Except perhaps for Silvertide who rocks hard as well. However, Silvertide's music is much more hook-laden with catchy, radio-friendly songs. Bad Wizard, on the other hand, is not very radio friendly. Their songs are loud and fast with loads of heavy guitar riffs and wicked solos. They are a rather hard group to pidgeonhole. They have the energy of a punk band, the volume and speed of a metal band, but the song styles and simplicity of a hard rock band. Many people compare them to groups like The Stooges and MC5, and it's easy to see where those comparisons come from. They also bring to mind Motorhead and AC/DC, and the lead singer sort of reminds me of Leslie West from Mountain. However, comparisons are not important, the music is what's important. Bad Wizard's #1 Tonite! is an excellent, no-holds-barred, butt-kicking hard rock album. It will probably make you want to go out and buy the group's other two albums, Free and Easy and Sophisticated Mouth. The only complaint that could possibly be made against this CD is that it is quite short. Bad Wizard subscribes to the Ramones mentality of rocking hard, rocking fast and then getting the heck out. You will find that their albums are usually less than 30 minutes. On the upside, that means that they are all killer and no filler. If you're a rock and roll lover who pretty much hates today's music scene, check out Bad Wizard. This album, #1 Tonite is a great place to introduce yourself to one of the best rock bands in the country.
