this was my first donut album. there really is no band to compare them too. they are quite depraved and sick (with songs like hang the dog outside the window) but also imaginitive and musically such a melting pot of punk, psychadelia and rock, with touches of metal and jazz. the closer (in my life) is something you either get stoned, too, fall asleep too or seduce your babysitter too. the drums are light and the guitars are sleepy and trans inducing. there are more upbeat tunes such as magdalaina. another favorite is hang the dog which, although lyrically weird is interesting and musically dynamic with the start/stop guitar riff. good drummer holds it all together (glad someone stays together in that mess of madness) donut are an interesting band and this was my first from this band and i enjoyed it very much. i think it is a good place to start if your just getting into them.
