I became a fan of Air last summer when I heard their then-new single "Surfing on a Rocket" from Talkie Walkie. I bought that album, enjoyed it immensely, and soon checked out Moon Safari which I'd been told was their masterpiece. I couldn't disagree, I liked Moon Safari even more than Talkie Walkie. For a while, I avoided Air's infamous second album 10,000 Hz Legend, after hearing that it was one of the biggest disappointments of 2001. I got an opportunity to hear "Electronic Performers" before too long, and I was impressed and intrigued. After hearing a couple other tracks from the album, I went ahead and bought it. I was not disappointed at all. 10,000 Hz Legend is possibly one of the most underrated albums of the past five years. That said, this album DOES NOT cater to the casual fan of Air, but all well-established Air fans will appreciate the quirky beats, infectious rhythms, creative synths, and nonsensical lyrics that 10,000 Hz has to offer. Air has said that they believe this is their finest album, which is confusing to many critics. But I can understand why they'd say that, this album succeeds even with all of its completely non-conformist qualities. Air should be praised for their achievements in this album instead of being bashed for experimenting less accessible sounds and compositions. Tracklist with Ratings (out of possible 10): 1. Caramel Prisoner (8/10) Favorite Tracks: Electronic Performers - Has an awesome beat and cool half-spoken half-sung vocals, also has an attention-grabbing almost Pink Floyd-like instrumental intro, a great first track Sex Born Poison - One of the most incredible, original songs I've ever heard, certainly one of Air's most eccentric tracks, it is layered with such precision and excellence that it is in my top 5 Air songs Don't Be Light - Another amazingly innovative song from Air, the beat is infectious and the music practically takes you to another universe, be sure to check out the music video for it also!
